How it works, start to finish.
Step 01
Protect
Your landlord or agent registers the tenancy and you pay your deposit into ShieldDeposit's escrow account. Your Deposit Protection Certificate is ready straight away — proof, in writing, that your money is safe.
Step 02
Live in your home
Your deposit stays in a protected account for the whole tenancy, and you can check on it whenever you like. Nobody can take it out who isn't owed it.
Step 03
Move out, get it back
When you move out, the agreed amount is in your bank within ten working days. If you and your landlord don't see eye to eye on deductions, a neutral team looks at the evidence and decides.
If you can't agree
If there's a disagreement, it's settled item by item — your landlord proposes each deduction with evidence, you respond to each one, and an independent adjudicator decides. Nothing is taken from your deposit without a written reason.
